Function:Methyl hydroxy benzoic acid methyl ester, also called neper gold, white crystalline powder or colorless crystals, soluble in alcohol, ether and acetone, slightly soluble in water, and boiling point of 270-280 ℃. Mainly used for organic synthesis, food, cosmetics, medical sterilization preservatives, also used as a feed preservatives. Because it has the structure of phenolic hydroxyl, so bacteria resistance is stronger than benzoic acid, sorbic acid. Its mechanism of action are: destroy the microbial cell membrane, intracellular protein denaturation, and can inhibit microbial cells of respiratory enzyme system and electron transfer of enzyme activity.
