Erythromycin lactobionate diffuses through the bacterial cell membrane and reversibly binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome.Mainly for the treatment of penicillin-resistant staphylococcal infection, it can also be used for streptococcus, pneumococcal infection and diphtheria carriers.
